Pharmacies typically use a queue machine with a touchscreen, combined with a mix of different types of displays. This may include one or more main displays showing the current queue numbers for all customer categories and directing to a prescription counter, one or more workplace displays flashing the current queue number when a workstation calls a customer, and staff displays informing the personnel about the current queue situation in terms of the number of waiting customers and the current waiting time. Placement and quantity depend on the layout of the premises and the number of workstations in the pharmacy.

If the queue machine is connected to the internet, additional features such as digital queue tickets, statistical tracking, connection to digital signage screens, and more can be offered.
